Its secret could cost Devin his life. Devin Foster knows he's fallen for the wrong woman, but his heart won't be denied. When the wealthy and lovely Selene Addington returns his affections, he delves into his apprenticeship in the hopes he can build the social status necessary to earn her father's blessing. But on the morning Devin intends to propose, Selene suddenly ends their secret courtship, leaving Devin desperate for answers. One of Anna's Cove's oldest residents insists Selene has done Devin a favor, repeating whispers that the Addingtons employ a vicious tradition to ensure only the worthiest suitors marry into their family. Devin has little time to consider the old wives' tale of brutal murders, full moons, a witch's curse, and a deadly beast. He is forced to insert himself into the family's saga when Jerome Rothbottom, previously estranged for his cruelty, returns to seek Selene's hand. With the full moon overhead and a great thunderstorm battering the island, Devin must discover the truth and risk everything to protect the woman he loves.
