In describing the methods used and procedures used in studying the problem, the data was collected through an extensive review of peer reviewed literature on the topic of leadership styles and retention outcomes. After a vast review of the literature currently available, the findings conclude that there are many reasons why employees leave and retention remains a problem, but some leadership styles can mitigate turnover and assist in the possibility of employee satisfaction and possible retention. The dominant leadership styles that seem to indicate more effectivity are usually styles where the leader is more participative, communicative and motivational. It more closely resembles a transformational leadership style.
