The author demonstrates that entrepreneurial success in Sierra Leone, as elsewhere, is dependent on certain acquired entrepreneurial characteristics and the existence of a hospitable 'social climate' for entrepreneurial activity. The absence of a hospitable 'social climate' and inadequate managerial skills are found to be responsible for the paucity of successful indigenous entrepreneurs in Sierra Leone.
