Moreover, the statistics that follow show that Ohio timber stands are now. Growing faster than they are being cut. The differences are partly due to inclusion of more lightly forested areas in the recent survey. Standards of merchantability have changed to include material that would not have been harvested 10 or 15 years ago. The differences also reflect the tree planting and the actual increase in timber volume during the period. Because of the changing standards this increase cannot be accurately measured.
