Born in Odessa, he trained at the Moscow Conservatory of Music (1901-1906) and became a concert pianist and prolific composer. He wrote the first Hebrew Opera, "The Pioneers of Palestine" (1924). He emigrated to the US and setlled in NY with his family. His works were performed in NY - at such cultural landmark venues as Carnegie Hall, Town Hall, City Center (formerly the Mecca Temple), and the 92nd St Y. This book is written by his granddaughter ELLEN WEINBERG MAUSNER.
