Book excerpt: The Story so far: Officer Morgan March is a witch-cop, officially called a DOMO Police Officer. DOMO stands for Demons Occult and Magical Organizations Police, and she works to keep supernatural dark forces at bay. To Police the paranormal creatures and people that would seek to do us harm. A week ago, local superhero Penguina wakes to the distressing news that her friend Pengvi has been abducted by a nefarious gang known as Hell’s Children. In her zealous attempt to rescue Pengvi, Penguina herself falls victim to their clutches. The Hell’s Children are under the command of a mysterious woman named Freya who claims to be from to Pen’s home planet, Sphencidia. Freya alleges that Pengvi was stolen from her and insists on his return, asserting that Pengvi, having imprinted on Penguina, must undergo a 'reset.' Tragically, Pengvi becomes the focal point of a mystic ritual, leading to his death. Fast forward to the present, Morgan's younger brother, Mage, a necromancer expelled from college for raising the dead, is sent to live with her by their concerned mother. Unbeknownst to Mage, his secret desire to be in the city aligns with Freya's ulterior motive – she wants him to resurrect Pengvi. Meanwhile, Penguina's father, a Samurai penguin hailing from Antarctica, arrives in the city in search of his daughter. Seeking Morgan's assistance, he implores her to join him in his quest to rescue Penguina from the clutches of darkness.
