Book excerpt: Ellen (Stackhouse) Cowgill (b.ca. 1636) was a daughter of Thomas and Anna Stackhouse of Giggleswick, Yorkshire, England. No record of Ellen's husband has been found (apparently he died before 1682). She and her five children (3 boys, 2 girls) immigrated in 1682 to Philadelphia, traveling with her brother Thomas Stackhouse and his family. Descendants and relatives of Ellen lived in Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas and elsewhere.
