Book excerpt: Since the onset of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, multiple studies have explored clinical outcomes in specific populations, such as pregnant women. The evidence on how pregnancy affects COVID-19 outcomes and vice versa is wide and varied. WHO established the Global Clinical Platform to enhance understanding of COVID-19 clinical characteristics and outcomes, using individual-level, anonymized clinical data of hospitalized patients worldwide. A pregnancy module (CRF-P) was developed to study disease impacts in pregnant women, inform public health responses, and guide further research. This report describes and evaluates the clinical characteristics of current and recently pregnant women with pregnancy and/or delivery outcomes and nonpregnant women of reproductive age who were hospitalized for clinically suspected or confirmed COVID-19.
