Book excerpt: After the favourable reception of The Porcelain of Hung-hsien, it soon became apparent that a follow-up was needed in order to broaden the scope of the subject and cover the 19th and 20th centuries. Since most readers are unacquainted with the porcelain of this period, it seemed essential to provide a large number of photographs to corroborate my arguments.
