Two series of experiments were carried out on boys and girls between 15 and 19 years of age, to investigate the effects of accompanying pictorial illustrations upon the remembering of verbal texts. It was found that older boys and girls were sometimes helped by pictures to remember the particular facts demonstrated by the pictures.
