Book excerpt: To date, no studies have investigated the influence of critical success factors (CSFs) on Six Sigma implementation in local governments. Research shows that CSFs are those vital elements which are critical to the success of Six Sigma implementation. Without them, Six Sigma projects have little chance of producing net positive results. Thus, the purpose of this research is to conduct a qualitative case study on identified CSF status (relative importance/rank order) during Six Sigma implementation projects in the City of Fort Wayne, IN.
