The Purple Psalmody is a collection of musical settings of the psalms for Sundays, solemnities, feasts, and memorials of the Catholic Church. It began with The Queen Stands, a song for the Solemnity of the Assumption, and ended up with Highest Honor of our Race, for the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Between the two Marian songs are more than a hundred other musical settings composed sporadically within a span of almost three decades. These songs have been used in the author’s music ministry at several Catholic schools and parishes both in the Philippines (where he came from) and the United States (where he now resides). Varied in styles and moods, these musical settings are the author’s personal expression of faith in, and love for, Jesus through Mary. They are his personal prayer to God. But they can be yours, too. Come sing—and pray twice, as St. Augustine said in effect—with Mr. Purple. Come sing The Purple Psalmody.
