Book excerpt: It has been ten years since we built this house for Carol and the kids. Not much has changed in Voluntown since then. Connecticut route 165 in front of her house is still the main artery feeding the casinos from the northeast corner of the state. The church down the street is still the town landmark as portrayed in the show. And Carol's house looks just as good as ever. That says a lot. December 4th, 2018 is the tenth anniversary of Door Knock Day. That was the special moment when a surviving family is publicly selected for the next show. Ty Pennington called to them on his megaphone that morning and changed all of our lives forever. Project 615, the 15th episode in the 6th season, aired on February 8th, 2009. This popular episode was rerun many times world wide. Over a billion people had seen our efforts come to life by the end of the sixth season. The final episode of the Extreme Makeover - Home Edition aired on December 17, 2012. As with many cinematic expressions, this show has been both acclaimed and sharply criticized for their approach and content. Some individuals spoke out in anger. Some cried in sympathy for the family. When the time came, we chose to help.
