Book excerpt: WHAT THE REVIEWERS AND READERS SAY: (The following reviews are from the Barnes and Noble and Amazon sites) The Night Boy is really good Pulp Fiction, November 15, 2004 FOUR out of FIVE Stars Reviewer: Laslow Jordan (United Kingdom) Finally some real pulp fiction and it's good too. Preddy doesn't try to articulate every thought of every character like so many writers do; instead he leaves some space for the readers' imaginations. The Night Boy's rapid pacing is as visual and as exciting as a good movie. The best one-night stand I've had in years! The Night Boy is a real page burner, November 15, 2004 FIVE out of FIVE Stars Reviewer: Jay Michaels (California) - I read a lot of thrillers but I had to read The Night Boy twice as Preddy conjures up some clever misdirection, some just a word, that turn on a dime. It's funny too. In fact I found some of the humorous passages, like "you can't get pregnant from spit", creeping into my thoughts days later. The Night Boy is a real page burner that sticks with you like mashed potatoes! The Night Boy has something for everyone! FIVE out of FIVE Stars Reviewer: Carl Connors@New Book Tattler, November 19, 2004, The Night Boy is a novella with a big bang. From the intriguing first line to the bold final scene this fresh tale has something for everyone. Sheryn is the personification of insecurity, vanity, and self-absorption; her sidekick is a witty guy hiding a dark side of his own. The two good cops are horny for each other in a sweet way, but end up breaking the rules, and the heroine is a psychopath with a big secret. Preddy's perpetrator, the Night Boy, is a deliberate, cunning killer and something more. If viewed from the inside out Preddy may be using the Night Boy character as a metaphor for the darkness, the Night, which lives in everyone. Or maybe not. The premise is now and unique and the language is active and fresh. The Night Boy is an excellent first book for Preddy and worth every penny. Night Boy has arrived FOUR out of FIVE Stars Reviewer: Weston Allred, a journalist, November 12, 2004,The Night Boy is a subsonic thriller that's quite humorous too if you can believe it. Preddy pokes fun at pathetic obsession, convenient love, and romantic expectations all the while serving up a tidy thriller. The ending is a real pisser. The Night Boy rips and I want more! Great Pulp Fiction FIVE out of FIVE Stars Reviewer: Frank Long, @ebookcritique November 12, 2004, The cover says that it is a 'tight thriller bathed in sarcastic social commentary and sly dark humor', what it is is a modern and warped social commentary and dark humor wrapped in a sick and slick thriller! Excellent language, some pretty gritty, and scenarios. Preddy delivers.
