Title I, Part A is designed to meet the educational needs of low-achieving children in schools with the highest levels of poverty by aligning high-quality assessments, systems of accountability, teacher preparation, curriculum, and instructional materials with challenging state academic standards. This brief explains how Title I, Part A of NCLB and Subtitle VII-B of the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act (reauthorized under Title X, Part C of NCLB; hereafter referred to as the McKinney-Vento Act) intersect and offers strategies for effective collaboration.
