It at once proceeded to Virginia. Ordered to Yorktown, it was there brigaded under General Gabriel J. Rains. It continued throughout the war in Virginia. Under Col. James Aiken, the remnant of 6 officers and 85 men surrendered at Appomattox. Of the 1245 men on the rolls, about 150 were killed in battle, or died of wounds; 275 died of disease; 64 were transferred; and 202 were discharged.
