Book excerpt: A 1979 feasibility report recommended a plan to reduce damages incurred by flooding along Loves Park Creek (formerly the Large Unnamed Creek). Funds were appropriated in FY 85 to continue planning and engineering to incorporate recent developments in the floodplain and current policies regarding the implementation of flood control projects. This General Reevaluation Report presents the reevaluation of the recommended plan for flood damage reduction at Loves Park and recommends the construction of a channel improvement/partial floodwater diversion plan. The plan would provide a 100-year level of protection, would produce annual net economic benefits of $825,700, and has a benefit-to-cost ratio of 1.4 based upon a 100-year economic life and a discount rate of 8-5/8 percent. The estimated total construction cost is $20,554,000. Environmental impacts of the plan are not significant and are evaluated in the attached Environmental Assessment.
