Book excerpt: “In modern form, women can empower themselves only through the education of etiquette and values, through which a strong society will be created.” -Dr. Om Singh & Dr. Sujata Choudhury The goal of feminism is to define and create the political, economic, personal, and social equality of the sexes through a variety of sociopolitical movements and ideas. According to feminism, women are treated unfairly in contemporary patriarchal society that values the viewpoint of males above everything else. Fighting gender stereotypes and enhancing women's access to professional, interpersonal, and educational opportunities are two ways to address this. Feminist movements have their roots in late 18th-century Europe and have fought for women's rights ever since. These rights include the ability to vote, run for public office, work, receive equal pay, own property, receive education, enter into contracts, and enjoy equal rights during pregnancy and after marriage. In addition, feminists have fought for women's and girls' rights to social integration, legal abortion, access to contraception, and protection against sexual assault, harassment, and domestic abuse. Feminist movements have also involved modifications to acceptable physical activity levels and requirements for women's attire.
