Book excerpt: Coy Johnson appears to have it all. He's young enough to enjoy his money, his dream house, and his gorgeous girlfriend….whose mission in life is to please him in every way. Hell, her husband even likes him. On top of everything else, he’s an accomplished musician and he’s not bad looking either. Then, why does he suddenly cease to give a damn? For no particular reason, he becomes a man who just doesn’t care. That attitude is sorely tested when an old friend makes an attempt on his life, almost emasculating him and trashing his home. Coy is forced to viciously defend himself. Then he finds that his family has frighteningly disgusting skeletons in its’ closet. This knowledge reveals that he isn’t at all the person he’d always thought himself to be. His quiet, peaceful life and everything he’d believed about himself and his father are shattered. Then his one true love is slaughtered in the most horrific way imaginable and he’s forced to come face to face with true evil. He must find a way to fight people he doesn’t know for reasons he doesn’t understand and become something he never wanted to be.
