Recent trends in Indonesian development are outlined. Indonesian urban transport demand and supply are analysed, and policy and planning frameworks for urban transport set out, including national policy and financial and institutional issues. Factors affecting urban transport are considered such as settlement characteristics and matching of transport systems with settlement hierarchy.
