As part of this project, a seven-day short story workshop was held in May 1995, in Maiduguri, Northern Nigeria. The workshop was attended by 21 local participants and was guided and supported by Nigerian author, Zaynab Alkali and Swiss writer and journalist, Al Imfeld. A large body of original and creative material came out of the workshop, and it is from this material that the poems and short stories which make up this volume were selected."--Foreword.
