Between 1930 and the late 1980s few companies, large or small, did have at least a couple of Bedfords within their fleet. These were dependable vehicles used by fleet operators all over the UK and beyond. When the new lesiure activity of motorcaravanning became popular in the mid-1950's, it was hardly surprising that converters turned their attention to the Bedford CA light commercial van, which had been unveiled in 1951. The CA and CF ranges were the perfect size for compact camper vans that could nevertheless provide a good level of comfort and luxury. Add in the smaller HA and the later Midi and Rascal models, and Bedford offered a host of attractive options. Here Martin Watts, founder of the Classic Camper Club, tells the complete story of all the Bedford camper and motorhome vehicles.
