The Center was established by the Secretary of the Interior and has been designated by the Federal Council for. Science and Technology to serve the water resources community by improving the communication of water-related research results. The Center is pursuing this objective by co ordinating and supplementing the existing scientific and technical information activities associated with active research and investigation program in water resources. To provide wrsic with input, selected organizations with active water resources research programs are supported as centers of competence responsible for selecting, abstracting, and indexing from the current and earlier pertinent literature in specified subject areas.
