Book excerpt: These poems are the recordings of my journey from neophyte farmer and father to a more seasoned and solid soul. These words are the chronicle of eight years working on and stewarding an organic farm in the Pacific Northwest of the USA. I wrote most of these poems in an old cabin, sitting behind a picture window above the farm and pasture. You may notice how the first entries reflect a steep learning curve on how to be a sensitive man in an intense world of parenting, marriage and business. For these were my first years inhabiting all three of these labels. These years began with hope and idealism. They end with both losing the farm and gaining a much deeper set of inner resources to be alive and to be of service.
