During that period he published several books pertaining to Kerry and to the Blasket Islands in particular, but as a native of Kilkea in County Kildare, he never lost interest in his people, their history and folklore. He began work on Are You Going Home Now? in the early 1990s which concluded with his untimely death in 2006.
