His grandparents were James Hamilton, Nancy Bixler, Saylor M. Zinn and Mahala Brown. He married Sara Royer in 1912 and they had two children. He married Bonnie Aline Smith in 1923. They had two children. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in West Virginia. Maryland, Pennsylvania and Switzerland.
